Kindergarten

Children must be 5 years of age by September 1 to enter our Kindergarten program.

Holy Family Catholic School recognizes that each child is an unique creation of God. In cooperation with the parents who are the primary educators, we work to discover and develop the potential God has given to each child.

Religion:
Our Religion series introduces the Catholic faith to our young learners. Students learn that God is their creator who has blessed them with many gifts. Children learn the importance of how to show and share God's love. Via Livestream, Kindergarten students attend Mass once a month as well as Holy Days of Obligation. We look forward to when we will be able to resume attending Mass in person with our 8th grade buddies!

Language Arts:
Our Reading program engages students in concepts of print, literature, different genres, phonics, decoding and word recognition, sight words, comprehension skills and strategies, writing mechanics, and spelling.

Math:
Our Math program develops skills and mastery in the several areas: Sorting, Classifying, Patterns, Numbers 1-100, Addition, Subtraction, Graphing, Money, Time, and Measurement.

Science:
Our Science program teaches the students to explore about The World Around Us, Animals and Plants, and our Earth. We also include multiple thematic activities and STEM and science experiments throughout the year.

Social Science:
Our Social Science program explores Being a Good Citizen, Our Country, Workers, Where We Live, Stories of the Past, and Famous People.

Handwriting:
Our handwriting program consists of learning the proper continuous strokes of each letter in the alphabet. Students work on forming their letters properly using our Wet Dry Try multisensory activities. Students also practice writing words and sentences. In addition, students work on creating sentences and stories in their monthly journals.

In all our subject areas we incorporate a variety of ways to learn from hands on, group work, individual work, and technology.  Our school Motto ~ Jesus walks on this campus is evident in all the learning we do in Kindergarten.

Field Trips: Due to COVID there are field trip restrictions this year.  We look forward to the time when we can do them. Traditionally, Kindergarten attends the Traveling Scientist, goes to Tanaka Farms, and Park Plaza Retirement Center.

Special Events: Due to COVID our special events have looked a little different, but we have made them work and have had so much fun!
