Music

In weekly music classes, students in all grades participate in fun and engaging activities that help them develop musical skills in a whole group setting. The basic elements of music - melody, harmony, rhythm and form - are taught through activities that incorporate singing, moving, listening, performing, composing/improvising, reading and writing music and playing instruments (C Major Desk Bells, Boomwhackers, Recorders, Xylophones Bucket Drums, Ukuleles and assorted percussion instruments.) By studying different musical genres and music from other cultures, students develop respect for diverse cultures and an appreciation for other points of view.

We have two extra-curricular choir classes: The Saint Gabriel Singers (3rd-4th grade), and The HFCS Choristers (5th-8th grade). In addition to leading the music at our school Masses, our choirs have exciting performance opportunities which in past years have included

  • Angel’s Baseball Choir Night

  • Pueri Cantores Festival - Christ Cathedral, St. Michael's Abbey

  • Festival of Music (Knott’s Berry Farm)

  • Disneyland Imagination Campus (California Adventure)

  • Diocesan Choral Festival - St. Edward the Confessor

  • St. Peter's Basilica - Rome, Italy
