Holy Family Cathedral School

Parent Resources » Healthroom

Holy Family Cathedral School is very fortunate to have our health room staffed with a nurse, 5 days a week from 8:00-2:30 pm. Mrs. Judy Fletcher, RN, is on duty Mondays and Tuesdays; Mrs Judy Taylor is on duty Thursdays and Fridays. They will alternate Wednesdays.

Reporting Absences
Parents are reminded to call the attendance line at 714-538-6012, ext 372 prior to 8:30 to report any absences or if their student will be late. You must call each day your child is absent. Please let us know the nature of your child's symptoms: fever (let us know the highest fever they had), cough, chills, sinus infection, diarrhea, sore throat, etc. With that information, we are able to track illnesses. Also, let us know if they saw a doctor and the diagnosis that was provided.

Requirements for all 7th-12th Graders
Assembly Bill 354. It states that “all students entering the 7th through 12th grades will need proof of Tdap booster shot before beginning school”. Tdap includes boosters for tetanus and diphtheria in addition to pertussis. Vaccinations received in early childhood lose effectiveness and booster vaccination is needed to prevent the disease. Orange county is experiencing an epidemic of pertussis, commonly called “whooping cough”. Pertussis is highly contagious. County of Orange Public Health Services states “if you child is aged 10 years or older and has not yet received the Tdap pertussis booster shot, he or she should get one now”. Please download the letter regarding Pertussis/Whooping Cough from the County of Public Health on this Health Room site. You can get more information about pertussis and Tdap vaccine from your physician or call the Orange County Health Care Agency at 1-800-564-8448.

Please contact the Health Room at (714) 538-6012, Ext. 305 with any questions.
