There are two choirs at Holy Family Cathedral School. We have an apprentice choir for 3rd and 4th graders that meets and rehearses every Monday afternoon from 3:00-4:00pm. This group is for beginners and teaches children how to be in a choir and sing in an ensemble. The Concert Choir is made up of school and parish students in grades 5-8. Rehearsals for this group are Tuesday afternoon from 3:00-4:30pm. Through these weekly rehearsals, the students are exposed to a wide repertoire of music performed in unison or parts and accompanied by a number of instruments, most of which are played by the children themselves. Mrs. Toni Dhuyvetter brings her love for music, her skills in directing and teaching children, and her extensive knowledge of liturgy and choral music of all genres to her work with these dedicated and talented young people. All school and parish students are welcomed to participate in this vital ministry to the church and the school community.
Both of these choirs perform at school masses, programs and activities, and at many 9:30am Sunday liturgies. The Concert Choir also participates in many festivals during the year including the Diocesan Choral Festival, the Pueri Cantores Choir Festival, and the Interfaith Choir Festival. |
